Stratford is known to be a cultural mecca with the The Stratford Festival as the main attraction. The Festival runs from May to November (sometimes longer) with an engaging collection of plays and musicals each season. The Festival is a big draw for tourists and the summer months see a swell of people coming to visit. Stratford Summer Music is also a big event with various outdoor stages used for an array of performances. And the fun doesn’t stop over the winter months. WinterFest is a family-friendly event that runs every January and features activities like snowshoeing, petting zoo, Rice Krispie square roast, facepainting, blacksmith demonstrations and birds of prey presentation. Lights on Stratford is a multi-location interactive light show that runs evenings December through January. The free shuttle buses make it easy to check out all the installations. At the peak of small-town charm is the annual Stratford Swan Parade. Every spring, Stratford releases its beloved swans from their cozy winter quarters back to the Avon River. The swans are piped down the street to the river bank by the Stratford Police Pipes and Drum Band and the event has become a fun weekend of family entertainment.
